We are Children of the World

We are children of the world.
We live in some places you know and in some you don't.
Some places you'll visit and some you won't.
Some you've visited and some you haven't.
Some are near and some are far.
Some sound exotic like Zanzibar.
These are homes of children of the world.

Conway, Mandalay, Calais, Galway,
Maastricht, Utrecht, Dordrecht, Zurich,
Tipperary, Kilkenny, Killarney, Blarney,
Copenhagen, Antwerpen, Nijmegen, Eindhoven, Meersen.
These are homes of children of the world.

Luxemburg, London, Liege, Lyon, Gryon,
Wexford, Wicklow, Sligo, Santiago, Monte Carlo,
Dublin, Berlin, Milan, Saigon,
Amsterdam, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Zeeland.
These are homes of children of the world.

Some are new, some are old.
Some are hot, some are cold.
Some are low, some are high.
Some are wet, some are dry.
'Cuz these are homes of children of the world.

Glasgow, Moscow, Oslo, Monaco, Kosovo,
Baghdad, Islamabad, Kaliningrad, Volgograd,
Aachen, Bergen, Edmonton, Lisbon,
Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Granada, Edinburgh,
Venice, Florence, Dallas, Los Angeles,
These are homes of children of the world.

Tokyo, Kyoto, Toronto, San Francisco,
Prague, Paris, Perth, Pisa,
Warsaw, Ottawa, Lima, Mecca,
Hamburg, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Magdeburg.
These are homes of children of the world.

High on a mountain, down on a plain,
Deep in a jungle in the middle of the rain,
Children laugh, children play,
Everywhere, everyday.
'Cuz these are homes of children of the world.

This poem has been modified from the original, "These are places of the world."
It was intended to identify some of the places visited by students who participated
in the UCAN program during the spring 2003 semester.
